Sea Harvest Corporation (Pty) Limited is a private company owned by a consortium of investors led by Brimstone Investment Corporation Limited. The other investors are Kagiso Trust Investments, Sea Harvest management and staff. Direct ownership by external black shareholders is more than 80%. This establishes Sea Harvest as the biggest empowerment company in its sector.

Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) is a specific government policy to advance economic transformation and enhance the economic participation of black people in the South African economy. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has published codes of good practice to be applied in the development, evaluation and monitoring of BEE charters, initiatives, transactions and other implementation mechanisms. Sea Harvest is a level 3 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment contributor. View a copy of the certification here.
